In January 2014 Columbia Gas of Ohio announced a new fund, the Columbia Fuel Fund, that will supply over $2.5 million dollars in assistance to income-eligible consumers over the next five heating seasons. This fund can be used to help consumers with paying their natural gas bills, and can be applied for through local community action agencies.
The Columbia Fuel Fund offers a once per heating season assistance payment for customers with incomes up to 200 percent of federal poverty guidelines. This means that a family of four can make up to $47,000 annually and be eligible for the assistance. Columbia Gas of Ohio President Jack Partridge shared his happiness regarding the fund, saying “As we enter the coldest months of the winter heating season, we believe no one should be without heat, and help through these programs can go a long way for families struggling to make their payments.”
