Authorities recommend that people immediately call 911 and the gas company if they smell what they believe is a leak of natural gas. Recently, that recommendation was unfortunately emphasized in the Columbus area by an explosion that tore apart an Upper Arlington neighborhood, an explosion seemingly fueled by a natural gas leak. The explosion turned bricks, glass and debris into projectiles that were propelled throughout the neighborhood. Luckily there was no one home during the time of the explosion, however the home that used to stand on Sunningdale Way is now a pile of debris. The shock of the explosion could be seen and felt for miles around, with many homes and hundreds of people withstanding substantial impact. Dozens of surrounding homes were reported as damaged, with reports of a basement wall collapse, ceiling collapses, and structural issues.
